I attended the Oracle Business Intelligence Advisory Council Meeting in Half Moon Bay, California last week. The weather was beautiful and the views from the hotel were awesome. It was tough to keep focused with the view from the conference room. There were about twenty partners participtating in this council meeting and many valuable presentations were given through out the day. Since there was a great deal to discuss in one short day, Oracle did an excellent job keeping our attention. Some of the items of discussion were:
OBI SE1 – Oracle will be coming out with a scaled down version of BI EE later this year at a more affordable price for mid-sized companies.
Hyperion Deal – Oracle couldn’t provide any details until after the purchase actually takes place, which should be around the middle of this month. Since Oracle fiscal year-end is end of May and Hyperions fiscal year-end is June, don’t expect any major changes before then. Everyone knows not to mess with Q4.
ETL tool of choice – no definite road map on that as of yet, but Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) seems to be the product of choice going forward.
There was some partner interaction and miscellaneous partner information provided, a nice reception, and a little networking. It was an enjoyable time. For anyone who is looking for a nice trip, I would recommend the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, California.
Dan, thanks for the trip!
