Analytic Views (a new feature included in Oracle Database 12.2) change the way you build analytical applications. Analytic Views are created in a similar way to regular relational views, but allow you to add multiple levels of data and calculations that insulate your application from complex SQL necessary to calculate even simple concepts such as time series, share calculations and aggregations.
Analytic Views can be defined against a variety of data sources, including In-Memory column stores, regular tables, external tables, even Big Data SQL.
Analytic Views move concepts typically associated with Business Intelligence applications into the database. Come see how a sample Application Express (APEX) application provided by Oracle can expose calculations and hierarchies created with Analytic Views to users without a middle tier.
