Analytic Views (new in Oracle 12.2 and discussed at Oracle OpenWorld 2015) change the way you build analytical applications. Analytic Views are created in a similar way to regular relational views, but add a syntax that allow you to add multiple levels of data and calculations that insulate your application from complex SQL necessary to calculate even simple concepts such as time series, share calculations and aggregations. You can even access Analytic Views from MDX-enabled applications such as Excel. Analytic Views can be defined against a variety of data sources, including In-Memory column stores, regular tables, external tables, even Big Data SQL.
